The subjects were six mothers whose children at the time of the interview ranged from elementary school to junior high school age. Data were collected by semi-structured interviews. As a result of analysis, the data were classified as follows: (1) the mothers' psychological adaptations were classified into three categories, "existing as a parent," "growing as a person," and "assigning a meaning to the birth;" (2) "existing as a parent" included three sub-categories: loving the child, coordinating the child's school life, and taking responsibility as a parent; (3) "growing as a person" had two sub-categories: understanding the pain of others and view of life; (4) "assigning a meaning to the birth" had three sub-categories: the child was born for my sake, the blessing of having children, and important proof that they had lived; (5) four categories were extracted as factors that strengthen the mothers' psychological adaptations: relationship with the child, the growth of the child, the family's support, and the presence of a person with whom they can talk. The results indicate that the following are important to enable mothers' long-term psychological adaptations: (1) to understand mothers as both person and parent, (2) to support mothers in assigning affirmative meanings to the birth, (3) to approach the factors that strengthen adaptation., 大阪府立看護大学紀要. 2004, 10(1), p.7-14}, pages = {7--14}, title = {低出生体重児で出生した学齢期の子どもをもつ母親の心理的適応}, volume = {10}, year = {2004} }
