A convenient sample of 10 nursing students in the U.S. was interviewed. The interviews were audio-taped and transcribed by the investigator. Words, phrases and sentences that similarly described aspects of nursing education were categorized. The following results were obtained. The nursing students were motivated by the aspiration to be a nurse, working with peers, attitudes of faculty members, learning from nursing experiences and a sense of refreshment. Nursing students also considered the structured instructional curriculum, utilization of nursing experiences, a variety of instructional techniques, and student-centered learning strategies to be effective nursing education strategies.
