Since the rural amenity is an aggregated concept, it cannot be grasped by simply indexing them. This paper focuses on the major constituents of the rural amenity. Principal component analysis summarizes several environmental indexes into four constituents of the rural amenity, which are living environment, farmland environment, natural environment, and communication environment. Regression analyses reveal the interrelations between these four constituents. It implies that policies improving a constituent of the rural amenity have also indirect effects on other constituents. Our result shows that improving living environment has positive effects on farmland environment as well as natural environment.
